We got tired of the stack.
Qwikr is a UK company building one financial system that covers bookkeeping, compliance, payroll and practice management — because running four that almost agree with each other is not a business model, it is a tax on your time.
Ask an accountant what they use and you will get a list: a ledger, a payroll package, a practice manager, a document signing tool, an AML checker, a receipt app, a deadline tracker, and a spreadsheet holding the whole arrangement together. Each one is fine. The gaps between them are where the evenings go.
The gaps are also where the errors live. A payroll journal exported and imported. A VAT figure carried into a spreadsheet and adjusted. A deadline tracked in one place while the work sits in another. None of it is difficult. All of it is manual, and manual work at volume is how a return goes out wrong.
So we built the whole thing as one system. Not a ledger with an integration marketplace, but a single platform where the pay run posts to the accounts it belongs to, the VAT return is built from the transactions it describes, and the deadline knows whether the work behind it is done.
That is a much larger amount of software to write, which is why most companies do not do it. It is also the only version that removes the reconciliation rather than moving it.
How we build
One system, not five
Every seam between tools is a reconciliation somebody performs by hand and nobody bills for. We would rather build the hard modules ourselves than integrate around them.
Fail loudly
The dangerous bug in accounting software is the one that succeeds quietly. Where we cannot do something correctly, the platform refuses rather than reporting a success that did not happen.
Boring where it matters
Matching, VAT treatment and payroll arithmetic are deterministic. AI is used where judgement genuinely helps, not as a substitute for getting the arithmetic right.
Say the true thing
We are new, we are not certified yet, and our HMRC production credentials are still being finalised. You will find all of that written on this site rather than discovered later.
Where we are right now
Qwikr is launching. The platform is built and in use, and we are onboarding our first practices deliberately slowly — because the first customers of accounting software deserve more attention than the hundredth, and because we would rather fix things while the number of people affected is small.
Some things are not finished. Our HMRC production filing credentials are being completed, and until they are the platform refuses to file rather than pretending. We hold no security certifications yet. If either matters to your decision, ask us and we will tell you exactly where it stands.
If you are an accountant who wants a say in how this is built, now is the useful moment to talk to us.
Come and break it
We would rather hear what is wrong with it from you than guess. Start a trial or book a walkthrough.
